Species that are getting pushed out of "drought areas" further south are reaching SW Ontario in Mid June (Dickcissels)...

Recently there has been a LABU in IL and MN, CCLO in Maine, SPPI in MN (sev days ago now)...

Hopefully by early July, things will have moved around enough to finally get into the R.R. area, and you can snag another mega!Brandon Holdenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16225665346907616226noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8130980035846282323.post-68515678129611918662012-06-20T21:10:40.231-04:002012-06-20T21:10:40.231-04:00It might also be wise to rent a boat and motor and...It might also be wise to rent a boat and motor and do a circular tour of Sable Island for a 1/2 day. There is a real possibility that something of note is out there, such as maybe Black-necked Stilt or Snowy Plover. If it is low water level, there will be huge areas of good shorebird habitat. Best place to rent the boat is Oak Grove Camp, there is also a Bird Sightings Book there as well, although likely not too many entries. That is also where Dan Lee spends the summer. He might have some secrets.Alan Wormingtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06595578301155470357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8130980035846282323.post-38474282333974386112012-06-20T21:01:41.472-04:002012-06-20T21:01:41.472-04:00I suspect your best bet for something really rare ...I suspect your best bet for something really rare will be during your next visit in early July. Likely Sprague's Pipit and maybe even Chestnut-collared Longspur. I'll send you some info on what fields can be walked just north of Rainy River townsite.Alan Wormingtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06595578301155470357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8130980035846282323.post-11608231600592410172012-06-20T20:59:52.008-04:002012-06-20T20:59:52.008-04:00You're sure those magpies weren't Blue Jay...You're sure those magpies weren't Blue Jays?Alan Wormingtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06595578301155470357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8130980035846282323.post-74669477912211356742012-06-20T16:43:11.610-04:002012-06-20T16:43:11.610-04:00Good catch guys...that's what 3 hours of sleep...Good catch guys...that's what 3 hours of sleep a night will do lol!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8130980035846282323.post-57676983471545080222012-06-20T16:40:41.121-04:002012-06-20T16:40:41.121-04:00Was about to comment that that was a funny-looking...Was about to comment that that was a funny-looking sharp-tailed grouse, but got beat to it!Reuven Martinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12841266154897629313noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8130980035846282323.post-11553554278856279792012-06-20T15:55:57.536-04:002012-06-20T15:55:57.536-04:00Your road grouse is a Ruffed haha, nice on the wes...Your road grouse is a Ruffed haha, nice on the western stuff though, I still need BBMA for Ontario!David Bellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10066636706800359294noreply@blogger.com
